A Kullu shawl is a type of shawl, featuring various simple designs , intricate multi-colour strong geometrical patterns and bright colors on the two edges, woven with woollen yarns that makes it more appealing. 
Draped over the chest and shoulders of both men and women, the shawl is meant to provide warmth during cold weather. It is woven using fibers of wool obtained from yaks and different types of sheep reared in the region or fine wool such as pashmina, angora and merino.
The material used for their weaving is pure wool in warp and weft. No countinous thread from one end to other is used in design area.
